Surprise billing laws protect patients by moving the payment dispute from the patient to the insurer. Insurers have responded by cutting out-of-network payments, often to a small fraction of billed charges. The challenge windows are short, and once one closes, the underpayment is usually final. We make sure every eligible claim is identified and pursued on time.
01. No Surprises Act Arbitration
Since January 2022, the federal No Surprises Act has sent out-of-network payment disputes to Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR). Insurers typically pay their own Qualifying Payment Amount, and providers who want more must act fast: 30 business days of open negotiation, then just four business days to file. We handle every step, from identifying eligible claims and meeting each deadline to building a persuasive offer and collecting the award.
02. New York Surprise Bill Arbitration
State IDR for fully insured New York plans, with timelines that can reach older claims you may have written off.
03. New Jersey Surprise Bill Arbitration
Arbitration for emergency, urgent, and inadvertent out-of-network care under New Jersey's 2018 law. Deadlines are tight.
04. Award Collection
When insurers delay paying IDR awards, we press the carrier, escalate to regulators, and litigate to enforce.
05. ERISA Litigation
For employer-sponsored plans, we pursue underpayments and wrongful denials in federal court when needed.
06. In-Network Disputes
Participating providers have a contract. We hold carriers to it through arbitration or breach of contract claims.
07. Recoupment Defense
An overpayment demand is an assertion, not a conclusion. We challenge flawed audits and protect revenue you earned.
More than 30 states have their own surprise billing laws alongside the NSA. We help practices know which rules apply, build compliant notice and consent procedures, and set up billing so eligible claims are preserved from day one.
